Many people claim that the passages from the book 19 Minutes by NH writer Joodi Picoult are pornographic I respectfully disagree. My personal opinion is that these passages give high school students enough information to have no doubt in their minds what is being talked about. I feel that this dark novel about ten students being shot and killed by one of their fellow students in a necessary teaching aid and may help prevent future school shootings. This is a book about behavior. There are consequences to bad behavior. Here’s a list of school shootings from the Wikipedia.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Here are the objectionable, to some parents passages from the book. All of them. If you think high school students aren’t already thinking these thoughts or acting on them, you need to get out into the real world.<\/p>\n

From the book 19 minutes by Jodi Picoult?:<\/p>\n

. . . \u201cMatt shifted his weight and came down on top of her again, only this time there was more burning, more pressure. \u201cOw\u201d she whimpered, and Matt hesitated.
\n\u201cI don\u2019t want to hurt you,\u201d he said.
\nShe turned her head way. \u201cJust do it,\u201d Josie said, and Matt pushed his hips flush with hers. It was the kind of pain that \u2014 even though she was expecting it \u2014 made her cry out.
\nMatt mistook that for passion\u201d. . . . <\/p>\n

\u201cJosie held her hand up to Matt\u2019s, a giant paw.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook how tiny you are, compared to me,\u201d Matt said. \u201cIt\u2019s amazing I don\u2019t kill you.\u201d He shifted then still inside her, so that she felt the bulk of his weight. Then he put his hand up to her throat.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause,\u201d he said, \u201cI could.\u201d<\/p>\n

He pressed just the slightest bit, pressure on her windpipe. Not enough to rob her of air, but certainly to scatter speech.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t.\u201d Josie managed.<\/p>\n

Matt stared down at her, puzzled. \u201cDon\u2019t what?\u201d he said, and when he started to move in her again, Josie was sure she had heard it all wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd God, did anything feel better than having Matt inside her? Josie shifted just a little, felt her body adjust to him, and her legs trembled.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
